“One night I saw a magician who completely blew my mind,” Vinnie still recalls the first time he saw magic on television. The World’s Greatest Magic was a showcase of the best magicians from across the globe broadcasted on television in the mid-90’s. At the same time, Vinnie admired a cousin who also began to perform magic. The TV shows, and seeing his cousin perform right in front of him, were the 1-2 combination that knocked him into his journey.
Being a class-clown in school, it was only a natural progression to performing magic. Starting in the eighth grade and going into high school, magic helped Vinnie cope with being the stereotypical awkward, insecure, braces wearing teen. This was the perfect environment for Vinnie to hone his craft. Once in college, Vinnie got a job as a stagehand for live events. This job created another great platform for him to expose himself on a national level. There is a lot of downtime for stage crews and artists alike; Vinnie took the opportunity to pass the time by entertaining the traveling bands. It was well received, and quickly his name spread among touring artists.
In 2005, Vinnie was hanging out at a show and he was introduced to Kevin Lyman, the founder of the Vans Warped Tour. After seeing Vinnie in action, an offer was made to take the show on the road. Mr. Lyman gave Vinnie the opportunity of a lifetime. During the day, Vinnie entertained the fans stuck on the long lines eagerly waiting for an autograph from their favorite artists, or even just getting food. At night, Vinnie did a show for the friends, family, and special guests of the artists who were on the tour. In 2007, Vinnie was asked to go out on Warped Tour once again. This time it was added that he would be used as a brand representative for Roadrunner Records. As he drew the attention of small crowds with his sleight of hand expertise, he’d talk about the artists and albums of the record label. This proved to be a great marketing tool for the label resulting in sales.
After tour concluded, Vinnie explored new venues and atmospheres. This led him to holding residencies at NJ/NY nightclubs, working in the VIP table service area; adding to the allure of exclusivity and luxury of those seats.
Through the recent years, Vinnie has continued to stay involved in the music business where he started, but also began contributing to other special events. Whether it’s a bat/bar mitzvah, birthday, corporate gala, charity event…whatever the case may be…Vinnie effectively captures the attention of everyone leaving them with the only thing that can be said, “One night I saw a magician who completely blew my mind.”
